Stockholm is one of the five fastest growing regions in Europe, with a current population of 900,000 in the inner city and 2 million in the county. 525,000 people work in the city, which is the economical centre of Scandinavia with the largest gross regional product and most multinational companies. Innovation is at the forefront of the city´s development. Apart from being the financial centre of Northern Europe, it also has one of the world’s largest ICT clusters and one of Europe’s largest biotech clusters. About 1/4 of Sweden’s companies are established in Stockholm.
However like all fast growing cities, Stockholm has challenges. In the video below from last year, Niklas Svensson, Deputy Director at City Planning Administration, City of Stockholm, presents the challenges ahead of one of Europe´s most vibrant cities.
