Bearing has been awarded a project by United Nations Habitat to support in redevelopment of the central railway district in Nairobi, Kenya.
The United Nations Settlement programme, UN-Habitat, is together with the Government of Sweden, Agence Francaise de Developpement and the World Bank aiming to enhance the sustainable urban development sector in Kenya through an initiative to redevelop railway land adjacent to Nairobi´s Central Business District.
This presents an historic opportunity to prove that Nairobi carries the potential to complete as a World Class City, and to address the challenges of urbanization and growth in a sustainable and planned way- creating opportunities in terms of employment, foreign direct investment, social inclusion, housing and public transportation.
The first phase of the project will be conceptualisation of an urban development model for the railway land. In the initial phase we will run workshops and a conference in Nairobi and also arrange a study tour for Nairobi´s place managers to Stockholm, Sweden.
