After two intense days on-site in northern Croatia, it is evident this region will become a vital new player and contributor to the development of regional innovation and place excellence in Europe.
Rarely have I experienced a more determined and committed engagement than the one sparkling from the Regional Economic Development Agency of the Medimurje region, also acting as a key driving force for the creation of a NUTS-2 region in north Croatia.
The TicTalc conference 2011, just now being completed, points out the direction for the region and the wider country as how to develop its future growth.
The strategies, structures and initiatives they are about to implement are shaped to avoid the mistakes made by so many others and leverage of the good examples from their fellow European brothers and sisters. It will take some time, but believe me, Croatia will be a European place of excellence we will hear much more from in the coming years. Croatia, welcome to the European Union, you will help us in EU as a team to become more competitive in a globalized world.
